Dutch Oven, Fire, and Lights

I grew up camping...spending my summer with the Girl Scouts. I enjoyed belonging to this organization from the age of seven and volunteering at my last camp at the age of twenty. In the summer months while camping I learned how to dutch oven pretty well, along with also learning to cook with fire. One summer we even made solar ovens and cooked pizza in them with success. I learned to cook meatloaf in onions, muffins in oranges, scrambled eggs in a bag and hand churn butter and homemade ice cream.
**these are just a few of my favorite**

I find fire very pretty,
the way it dances in the wind
and cracks as if it is
talking to you in the cool night...

With my little family now we do not find ourselves camping that much. It is not the camping part that I find hard. Though I do admit it is alot of work and I am a lazy person... so packing I do not enjoy :( The hard part I find with camping is watching the children. I have a great fear of them running away from me, wondering off from me, falling in a river, or falling in the fire. (this i have seem done) I do worry to much that I do know. But I find it much more comforting to cook with fire in my back yard. Roast marshmallows and eat some really yummy food in the back yard. There will be a time when the children are a little bigger that we become a camping family again. **or better yet a motor home family**
